Week in the life of a Communications Assistant #4
May 17, 2019
Each week, our Commications Assistant, Holly, will be telling you what happens behind the scenes of the Staff Channel…
Hello everyone; welcome back to my blog! If you want to know what I’ve been up to since we last met, you’ve come to the right place.
It has been another busy week for me, with many Staff Channel articles to write and great news to share. For instance, did you know that the Business School has won the Bronze Athena SWAN Award? I have also been letting you know about various events, such as 12 Years to Save the Planet, which I’d encourage everyone to go to, particularly if you saw the recent David Attenborough documentary about climate change!
It was lovely visiting the Cathedral School of St Peter and St John on Wednesday, where I was able to see the children using an innovative music composition app designed by a Salford researcher. Members of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra will be going into the school today for an exciting collaboration (more to follow next week!).
Speaking of news, my press article about actress Amy Jane Ollies went out yesterday! Amy, whose credits include Causality and Hollyoaks, graduated in 2012 and is currently starring in Blood Brothers. It was nice speaking with her on the phone a few weeks ago, so I am glad to have shared her story.
Another major project I have been working on this week is the VC’s Awards. This has involved creating graphics for social media (an example of which is below). Make sure you nominate, if you haven’t already!
I also created a graphic for an all staff email, which I drafted up, about an interesting event called Salford Untold. Check it out.
Next week, I will be attending the Vice-Chancellor’s fun run. Good luck to anyone taking part!
