Santander Universities Celebration 2018
Dec 05, 2018
Last week (Wednesday 28 November) the Santander Universities Celebration 2018 took over the New Adelphi building, for an afternoon of celebration. The lively event aimed to showcase our growing partnership with Santander and to showcase the staff and students who have benefitted from Santander funding over the years.
Santander is a valued partner of the University. The main areas of support are:
- Student Travel Awards: enabling students to travel internationally to undertake placement/work experience/programme enhancing opportunities
- Entrepreneurship Awards: funds for start-up businesses
- Internship Awards: funds to place students on internships with employers.
Santander previously funded Staff Travel Awards, which enabled colleagues to travel internationally for conferences, research, and to facilitate student projects, amongst other activities.
The event kicked off with a Welcome speech from Professor Neil Fowler, Dean of Students, followed by Student speakers: Candace James (Santander start-up award) and Salman Kotwal (graduate, Santander travel award).
The event provided a great networking opportunity for the beneficiaries in attendance, along with Santander and University colleagues. The event finished with the presentation of a recognition award to Director of Santander Universities UK Matt Hutnell from Vice Chancellor Professor Helen Marshall, which was a token of thanks for their support to date.
