SID Week starts on Monday
Oct 31, 2018
It’s that time of year again, when we can reveal that our second Salford Inclusion & Diversity (SID) week will take place next week from Monday 5 November – Friday 9 November. This year we have joined forces with our Students’ Union colleagues, so our SID week falls within a fortnight of activities they are hosting to celebrate One World.
Our vision is to create an inspirational, inclusive learning and working environment that celebrates the diversity of our University community – we’re hoping that the range of events and online resources will encourage you to think about what diversity and inclusion means to you and perhaps discuss this with colleagues, students, family and friends in your everyday conversations.
This year SID week involves a mix of activities so that;
- We will promote good relations and ask colleagues and students to check the assumptions that we make about each other in everyday life
- We will continue to bridge the gaps in understanding and awareness surrounding culture and faith
- We will initiate everyday conversations with our “Living Library”.
Inclusion & Diversity Manager Sue Clark said: "SID week gives us the chance to really push the messages around Inclusion and Diversity at the University and it’s also a lot of fun! There are so many fabulous colleagues and students here at Salford and we want everybody to have the chance to flourish"
Each day of SID week you will find a different inclusion and diversity message from the Inclusion and Diversity team on the staff & student channels. There's some great events coming up so do keep your eyes peeled. You can also follow the campaign on social media using the #SIDWeek hashtag.
