Development course in November
In partnership with Advance HE (formerly Higher Education Academy), the Quality and Enhancement Office (QEO) is offering a one-day professional development course for colleagues who are – or who aspire to be – external examiners at other UK higher education institutions.
The course is part of a national pilot run by the HEA. It is designed to enhance professional practice by promoting a deeper understanding of the nature of academic standards and professional judgement in the external examiner role. It will also explore evidence-informed approaches to contribute to impartial, transparent judgements on academic standards and enhancing student learning.
Acting as an external examiner brings new perspectives to our practice as academics, as well as being an excellent way of building a profile in the sector and expanding personal networks. It can also contribute to applications to become a Fellow or Senior Fellow of the HEA.
The course is comprised of preliminary reading and a one-day face-to-face workshop on Monday 12 November from 9:30am - 3.45pm.
Refreshments and lunch are provided. Venue to be confirmed.
Places are limited to 25, so if you would like to attend, please contact John Dermo at email@example.com.
