We are sorry to announce the very sad news that our former colleague, Andrew Schofield, died suddenly on Friday 21 September at the age of 58.
Andrew worked for the University and previously Salford College of Technology for nearly 25 years. He joined us in 1991 and worked in a variety of accounting roles up until fairly recently when, in 2015, he took early retirement to care for his mum who was living with dementia. Over the years, he worked both in the central finance department and across the University in our schools and former colleges. He also won a Vice-Chancellor's distinguished teaching award in 2014 at our first University Day celebration, as part of the Advanced Web Design and eCommerce Module Team in Salford Business School.
Andrew Crozier, Deputy Director of Finance said: "Andrew was the very essence of a gentle giant and loved the company of his colleagues and friends. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him."
His funeral will take place at at 11am on Friday 19 October at Bamford Chapel, Norden Road, Rochdale OL11 5PQ and his family have also invited everyone to join them at The Crimble Hall, Crimble Lane, Bury Road after the service.
