BOOK NOW: Brexit support group the3million to join us at event for EU national staff

Sep 03, 2018

Our EU staff network group is partnering with lobbying and support group ‘the3Million’ with a special event aimed at informing EU citizens about the work of the3Million and the Settled Status process on Thursday 13 September in Lower Maxwell Hall (3.20-6pm).

the3million is a not for profit organisation formed after the Brexit referendum to protect the lives of EU citizens who made the UK their home. They’ll be sharing the good work they’ve been doing as well as providing expertise in the shape of a European Commission approved Immigration lawyer who will outline the Settled Status Application process and will respond to specific queries regarding Brexit and immigration.

The University is committed to supporting colleagues who are EU nationals and, through the staff network, are keen to create a space for them to come together, share concerns and get expert advice.

The agenda for the event is as follows:

3.20pm: Doors open

3.45pm: Introduction by Cristina Tegolo, Co-ordinator of The3million Manchester

3.50pm: Presentation by Elena Remigi, co-writer of the book “In Limbo - Brexit testimonies from EU citizens in the UK”,

4.00pm: The work of “the3million” by Nicolas Hatton, founder of The3million, and by Ilse Mogensen, the3million - Public affairs and campaigns

4.30pm: European citizens’ rights, by an Immigration Lawyer provided by the European Commission (name tbc)

5.00-6.00pm: Q&A

Places are open to all staff with an interest in this event especially those who are EU citizens and their family who will be most affected by Brexit. Please note spaces at the event are limited so you’re advised to register at your next available opportunity using this link:

‘the3million’ is the largest group of EU citizens in the UK, with a team of approximately 50 active volunteers working on advocacy, policy, legal, media, social media, grassroots and events and over 35,000 members in their closed Facebook group.
