Candlelit vigil for World Suicide Prevention Day
Aug 09, 2018
Suicidal feelings and acts are something we generally struggle to speak about openly, but which can affect people very deeply over the course of their lives.
On Monday 10 September, World Suicide Prevention Day, there will be a candlelit vigil at Lowry Plaza, the Quays, Salford, from 6:30 to 7:30pm.
Colleagues who have been touched by suicide are very welcomed to attend, perhaps to remember a loved one or colleague or student, or on their own behalf to remember times when they have struggled with suicidal feelings or perhaps attempted suicide.
There will be a remembrance roll and you can add a name to the list (or ask any questions about the event) by emailing email@example.com.
If you are having thoughts of suicide please talk to someone – within the University you can contact the Employee Assistance Programme on 0800 716 017 at any time and the Samaritans are available to listen 24 hours a day.
