Join Salford Proud in the Manchester Pride Parade 2018

Aug 02, 2018

Roll up! Roll up! The Manchester Pride Parade is coming to town and Salford Proud would like YOU to take part.

We’ll be celebrating our wonderful LGBT+ community here at Salford in the spectacular parade again this year - don’t miss your chance to join the fun!

This year the theme is ‘Circus of Acceptance’, so get your rainbow top hats ready as we march alongside the Students’ Union – we are so proud to have TWO ENTRIES this year!

We have worked collaboratively with the Students’ Union, Salford City Council and Salford Pride to pull off the event this year and would like to thank everybody involved.

Professor Neil Fowler, Dean of Students, said “Last year’s Pride was a fabulous event that bought together staff and students alongside the wider Salford Community. Our staff network do a great job ensuring that the University is an inclusive place to work and study, supporting LGBT+ staff and promoting the role of LGBT+ allies (those who take an active role in supporting and promoting LGBT+ inclusion).”

So come and join us as we celebrate Manchester Pride and the end of our first academic year as a network. The parade starts at 12pm on Saturday 25 August and you can sign up to join us here.

Following the parade we will be joining forces with the other entries and friends from The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University for a picnic and drinks. If you wish to attend the Manchester Pride Festival, you can find out more and purchase pledge band by visiting https://festival.manchesterpride.com/big-weekend.
