We’ve got two great alumni events coming up in the next few months, with speakers from our staff network and our alumni community sharing their insights on a wide range of topics.

Date: Thursday 12 April
Time: 6.30 – 8.30pm
Venue: Chapman Lecture Theatre, University of Salford

First up, Fay Selvan, Salford alumna and CEO of the Big Life Group, will deliver a lecture called ‘Homelessness – whose fault is it?’. According to recent estimations there are now over 4,750 people sleeping on the streets.

Fay will examine this issue closely, sharing her unique insight gained through her vast experience in tackling homelessness with Big Issue North and INSP - a group of social enterprises and charities with a turnover of around £19m.

Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham, will also be in attendance as a special guest and will join Fay for a discussion following the lecture, as well as members of SHUSU. Register for your free ticket here.

Date: Thursday 10 May
Time: 6.30 – 9pm
Venue: Churchill War Rooms, Clive Steps, King Charles, Westminster, London SW1A 2AQ

Next, Dr Samantha Newbery, Lecturer in Contemporary Intelligence Studies at Salford, will be presenting her world-leading research on 'The Challenges of Counter-Terrorism: Policing, Intelligence, Soldiers and Legislation'.
