We are delighted to announce that in recognition of the valued contribution of all staff in significantly improving the overall position of the University, colleagues will be rewarded with an additional paid closure day on Friday 22 December 2017.

For colleagues for whom this is a non-working day, line managers should exercise discretion and ensure that the additional day can be taken at an appropriate time before 31st March 2018. Further information about this can be found here.

This decision has been made in recognition of all your efforts and achievements in the delivery of significant improvements this year. In September we celebrated a 10 place climb in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, moving from 98th to a ranking of 88th. Our NSS results for this year showed an overall improvement, and we have also been shortlisted in two categories at this years’ Times Higher Education (THE) Awards. These are just a few of the many success stories, of which there are too many to mention, in what has been a very successful year.

As we draw to the end of our 50th anniversary year, we want to jointly take this opportunity to thank all colleagues for your personal commitment to and efforts towards making our University successful. We look forward to another great year in 2018, continuing to make strong progress against the delivery of our primary strategic and operational objectives.
