For Professional and Administrative employees (now taking applications for January-July 2018 start).

As part of the University’s commitment to supporting the development of its people, professional services employees can apply for funding to support professional qualifications or accreditations. There will be two application deadlines;

13th October for January to July 2018 start

29th April 2018 for September to December 2018 start

The next deadline for applications is Friday 13 October 2017 – which relates to courses starting 1st January to 31st July 2018.

If you work in a professional services or administrative role you are eligible for funding to study for a professional qualification or accredited course. This is to help you progress in your current role and your career overall by enhancing and accrediting your professional and personal skills. Your application for funding should be for a course which has been identified through your PDR discussion and been supported by your line manager. This is to ensure that the University is funding development activities which not only support your career, but also the strategic needs of the business.

Access the guidance notes and application details here.

Anyone wanting to put in an application should investigate courses which are available through University of Salford courses and/or Salford Professional Development Ltd in the first instance.

If the course required is not available through the University itself, colleagues should then identify their preferred option which may be offered directly by their appropriate professional body, for example AUA, CIPR, CIM, CIMA, CIPD - and they should contact the relevant school or institution which teaches the course for some initial details before applying to the PAL fund.

The committee is able to consider team as well as individual applications so if you would like the opportunity to up skill your team, please let us know.

Please note due to the allocation of funding this year there will be no additional round in January 2018 so all funding for this academic year 1st January to 31st July 2018 must be applied for by the Friday 13 October 2017 deadline.
