Aug 02, 2017
Join the School of the Built Environment for International Research Week from 11-15 September. Practitioners, leading researchers and postgraduates from around the world will be showcasing state of the art research, innovation and industry practice at all levels and in all processes in the Built Environment.
The event includes an academic conference, two industry days, workshops, and a postgraduate research conference.
International Research Conference (11-12 September)
In collaboration with the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB), this conference promises to be a large gathering of key international players and speakers from industry, academia and the research community, forming an important networking point for all participants.
Industry days (13-14 September)
Working with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, there will be two themed days. The Fourth Construction Summit North will discuss the latest developments in the region and across the UK construction sector. The Digital Technology in Construction Conference will explore how building information modelling, digital design, big data and the internet of things are revolutionising the way we think about property and construction.
13th International Postgraduate Research Conference in the Built Environment (14–15 September)
This is the 13th time this internationally renowned conference dedicated to postgraduate research in the built environment has been held. Led by key academics, there will be opportunities to enhance and develop research skills, and to network and exchange research ideas in a supportive environment. The conference will provide a forum for novel discussions into the development and application of new and emerging practices to challenge current design and construction practice in the areas of people, process and technology issues.
Workshops (throughout the week)
There will be two workshops running throughout the week: A one day Doctoral Workshop sponsored by the Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM), with a particular focus on promoting and meeting the challenges of an ageing society. The 2nd International Workshop MAPS LED will run for three days, with a focus on how Smart Specialization Strategies can be translated into spatially-oriented local development.
