Throughout the year Directorate of Student and Academic Support (DSAS) colleagues have been raising money as part of their commitment to support Salford charities.

They’ve run a number of successful events so far, and now it’s nearly time for the next one – on Friday 30th June it’s Sports Day! This event is part of our 50th celebrations and there are some surprises in store. You really don’t want to miss out!

The event has been extremely popular with 18 teams registering from across the University. Competing to be crowned 2017 winners are:

The VCs Office

Student Administration

Quality and Enhancement Office

School of Nursing, Midwifery, Social Sciences and Social Work

School of Arts and Media

Finance Department

Student Experience and Support

Salford Business School

The Library

IT Services

School of Environment and Life Sciences

Santander Universities

Mind in Salford

Team Sport

The Students’ Union

Salford Living Villages

We now need YOU to support them. Join us between 12noon and 2pm in the Sports Centre to see all the action live and cheer on your team, and we might even have a little something for the loudest ‘Cheer Squad’.

Following Sports Day, DSAS Events will be hosting a special celebration event and fundraiser with guest band T.L. Lee & The Rago Band and DJ Dullage  from 4pm in Atmosphere. Tickets start from £6 and 100% of proceeds from this event, as well as the Sports Day, will go to the mental health charity Mind in Salford. Get your tickets online here. We will be crowning our 2017 Champions during the event.

Alison Blackburn, University Registrar said: “Following on from last year’s success I was keen to see the Sports Day become an annual event. We’re proud to support Mind in Salford and I hope to see you there either participating or in the crowd cheering them on. The DSAS Events team, as ever, will have a couple of surprises up their sleeve.”

Our reigning champions the Students’ Union added “We’re looking forward to defending our title, but we’re aware that our friends in DSAS have been training, so let the battle commence!”
