Join the Vice-Chancellor for a charity fun run
Mar 08, 2017
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Helen Marshall invites employees, students and friends and supporters of the University to help raise money for Kidscan, the University-based children’s cancer charity, by joining her on a 5k Fun Run on Friday 28 April.
Participants can join the Vice-Chancellor by running, walking or jogging their way to the finish line, which will be reached through Peel Park campus, across David Lewis Playing Field and historic Peel Park itself. The event is being proudly sponsored by SALFOOD.
You can sign up at http://bit.ly/2lwkcx7 and entry is £10 for colleagues, £8 for students and £12 for other members of the community. The closing date for online entries is Thursday 21 April.
Daley O’Neal from the Sports’ Centre, part of the team co-ordinating the event says: “We hope to build on 2016’s tremendously successful event, by generating even more money for our official charity, in addition to getting more people involved. More than 105 people signed up last year and we raised more than £1,500 so we’re aiming to go bigger and better in our 50th year!”
Registration is at 12.15pm on the day, and the event will begin at 1pm. Final online entries for the event will close on Thursday 27 April.
The Vice Chancellor said: “Through Sport and Wellbeing activities we are able to come together for a great cause and create a great sense of community on campus, in this our 50th year. The 5k run has proved to be a great way of achieving these aims and I even braved the snow to do it last year, so I we hope that even more of you will participate in our traditional sporting event this Friday 28 April. I will be there, whatever the weather, and look forward to seeing you.”
