A professor of sociology at the University has marked the launch of a major new website to support his discipline.
Garry Crawford is editor of the Discover Sociology website and a key contributor to it.
The site has been launched by the British Sociological Association (BSA) and aimed at pre-university (secondary/FE) level teachers and students.
It aims to encourage students to study the subject and it provides free material for their studies.
It is hoped the site will play a key role in engaging students and tutors into the subject at pre-university level and encourage more students to take the subject at university level.
Judith Mudd, chief executive of the BSA, said she believes the site “has the potential to mark a gear change in the association’s history”.
Garry said: “It has been a lot of work, and I'm pretty proud of it.”
