Professional Services colleagues who are interested in undertaking qualifications or accreditations can now apply for financial support from the Professional Accredited Learning (PAL) fund.

Applications are now being accepted for courses starting between March and July 2017. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 31 January 2017.

The PAL fund is part of the University’s commitment to supporting the development of its employees.

Timeframes for applications changed last year, to adapt to the more diverse range of online and distance study available.

There will be three application deadlines.  They are:

  • 31 January 2017 for courses commencing between March and 31 July 2017
  • 28 April 2017 for courses commencing between 1 August and 31 December 2017
  • 13 October 2017 for courses commencing between 1 January and 31 July 2018

Colleagues who work in a professional services or administrative role are eligible to apply for funding to study for a professional qualification or accredited course.

This is designed to help you to progress in your current role and enhance your overall career.

Applications for funding should relate to a course that has been identified through your PDR discussions and is supported by your line manager.  This ensures that the University is funding development activities that support your career and the strategic needs of the business.

To find out which courses are available, colleagues should visit University of Salford courses and/or Salford Professional Development Ltd in the first instance.

If the course required is not available through the University itself, colleagues should then identify their preferred option, which may be offered directly by their appropriate professional body, for example AUACIPRCIMCIMA, CIPDHEaTED.

Please contact the relevant school or institution that teaches the course for further details before applying to the PAL fund.

The PAL committee is able to consider team as well as individual applications so if you would like the opportunity to up-skill your team, please let us know.
