Erasmus+ applications for Trimester 2 now open - deadline 12 November
Nov 08, 2018
We are delighted to announce that it is now possible to apply for Erasmus+ funding for job shadowing, teaching and training placements. For 2018/19 there is €25,000 of funding available for all staff across both academic and professional services.
We apologise in advance as this call for applications is released later than usual due to delays in receipt of funding from the UK’s national agency, the British Council, due to Brexit negotiations which has meant that we were not able to accept applications earlier.
Who can apply?
Erasmus+ funding is available to academic colleagues for either teaching or training activities, and to professional services staff colleagues for training only. Please note that funding is not available to agency, temporary or hourly-paid members of staff.
All applications must demonstrate the following international aims:
1. Global Impact
2. Growth and Diversification
3. Global Citizenship
There must also be evidence of the staff or student benefit and how the opportunity will support the institutional ICZ agenda.
Where can I go?
Teaching activities can take place at an HEI (Higher Education Institution) holding an ‘Erasmus Charter for Higher Education’ accreditation as well as an Inter-Institutional Agreement with our University. You can find a definitive list of our partners at https://www.salford.ac.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/1678432/Staff-Mobility-for-Teaching-Partners.pdf. At this current time, this is not a call for new Erasmus+ partnerships and therefore all applications must be for current institutional partnership agreements if your application consists of a teaching element.
Unlike teaching activities, training activities can take place at either one of our Erasmus+ partner Institutions or an Institution within one of the Erasmus+ Programme Countries we don’t currently have an agreement with. For a full list of the Erasmus+ Programme Countries, please visit: https://www.erasmusplus.org.uk/participating-countries. Please note that the chosen Institution must hold an ‘Erasmus Charter for Higher Education’ accreditation.
Training activities can also take place in a public or private organisation active in the fields of education and training within one of the Erasmus+ Programme Countries.
Please be aware that Erasmus+ funding does not cover conferences.
Several universities also offer International Staff Training Weeks which offer an opportunity to follow a fixed training programme and benefit from opportunities to meet with colleagues from other universities in related fields at the same time. More details can be found here: http://staffmobility.eu/staff-week-search
This year, there will be two calls for applications.

The mobility can take place at any stage of the 2018-19 academic year but not before 1st November for semester 1 placements.
The minimum duration of the mobility must be 2 working days and teaching staff are required to teach a minimum of eight hours per week or any shorter period of stay.
For all applications, note that staff are responsible for setting up their own programme and that they must have approval from the Associate Dean International from their School, written evidence of this must be submitted as part of the application process. Staff members are also required to upload an official invitation letter or email from your hosting Institution/Organisation.
It is vital that all applicants outline the approximate costings of the programme as additional funds may need to be sourced from their School/Department. You can find the Erasmus+ allowances at https://www.salford.ac.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/1678135/Subsistence-Rates.pdf (these may be subject to change). A form to calculate these expenses can be found on the University’s Erasmus+ webpage (see ‘Application’ tab under ‘Erasmus Staff Mobility’) and must be submitted as part of the application. Please note that there are no staff back fill arrangements available for anyone who chooses to apply for this programme.”
Applications will be assessed by an impartial panel compromising of colleagues from both professional services an academic schools.
Conditions of participation
Staff whose applications are successful must complete the required Erasmus documentation in order to receive the grant funds.
Prior to departure:
-A grant agreement (this is provided after an application is successful);
-An Erasmus+ staff training or teaching agreement that has to be signed in advance of the mobility by all parties.
-Documentary evidence of the duration of the mobility period signed by the host organisation. The host HEI must confirm the activity undertaken along with the start and end dates;
