FOURTEEN Salford alumni named in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours List

Did you know that fourteen Salford graduates and honorary graduates have been named in this year’s Queen's Birthday Honours List?

The esteemed list recognises the achievements of a wide range of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom. It's great to see so many of our alumni awarded, proving what a diverse and talented range of graduates we have here at Salford. 



The following alumni will receive honours:

Order of the Bath

Michael Driver

Chief Financial Officer, Ministry of Justice and Head of Government Finance, HM Treasury. For public service.

Michael graduated from Salford in 1991 with a degree in Economics.


Dr Darrin Disley

Lately Chief Executive Officer, Horizon Discovery Group. For services to Business, Enterprise and Health.

Darrin is a Chemistry graduate and left Salford in 1991.

Dr Marnie Millard

Group Chief Executive Officer, Nichols plc. For services to International Trade and Businesses in North West England.

Marnie was recognised as an honorary graduate last year.


Kate Hardcastle

Founding Partner, Insight with Passion. For Ms Morgan services to Business and Entrepreneurship.

Kate graduated from Salford in 2004 in Management.

Diane Modahl

Founder, Diane Modahl Sports Foundation. For services to Sport and Young People in North West England.

Diane was recognised as an honorary graduate in 2002.

Alan Muddiman

Lately Chair, Civil Engineering Contractors Association and Head, Health, Safety and Environmental, Renew Holdings plc. For services to Health and Safety.

Alan studied Health and Safety at Salford until 2002.

Gillian Robinson

Lately Consultant Nurse for Acquired Brain Injuries, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. For services to Children's Nursing.

Gillian graduated from Salford in 1999 in Nursing.

Victoria Rockingham

For services to the Environment and voluntary service.

Victoria studied Environmental Resources at Salford and graduated in 1997.

Olive Strachan

Founder, Olive Strachan Resources. For services to Exports in Professional Business Services.

Olive graduated from Salford in 2011 in Human Resources Management.

Walli Ullah

Founder and Director, EMU Films Ltd. For services to the Economy and Overseas Investment.

Walli studied Physics at Salford at graduated in 1992.

Louise Wallwein

Poet, Playwright and Spoken Word Performer. For services to Music.

Louise studied Politics and Contemporary History at Salford until 1997.

Pamela Jones

Volunteer, The Connor Saunders Foundation. For services to Young People in Brighton and Hove.

Pamela studied Nursing at Salford and graduated in 1994.

Agimol Pradeep

Volunteer Nurse, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. For services to Organ Donation.

Agimol graduated from Salford in 2011 with a degree in Nursing. 

Queen's Police Medal 

Paul Slain

Paul did his MA Terrorism and Security here at Salford.
