Dr Eunice Ayodeji, Lecturer in Mental Health in the School of Health & Society, has been appointed to a prestigious National Institute for Health and Care Excellence committee. She will be the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse committee member for Depression in Childhood.

NICE guidelines are evidence-based recommendations for health and care in England, though often adopted more widely. They help practitioners to provide the most effective care and services for diagnostic groups or specific conditions.

Tony Long, Professor of Child & Family Health, said “Mental health problems in childhood, including depression, can have lifelong and devastating effects, contributing to the UK’s rising rate of teenage suicide. It is a grossly neglect issue. This important role for Dr Ayodeji is fitting recognition of her expertise. It complements research in the School with a number of external statutory or Third Sector partners to improve both physical and mental health outcomes for children and young people.”
