Changes to annual leave year

You will soon be receiving a letter setting out changes that are being made to the annual leave year. Currently our annual leave period runs from 1 October through to 30 September; due to new financial reporting standards, this will be changed to align with the financial year.
This change will not affect your annual leave entitlement and we have provided an FAQ document where you can see the arrangements that are in place to ensure that there is a smooth transition. This can be found using the link above or in the ‘Policies and Forms’ section of the HR webpage under ‘Leave and Absence’.
The forthcoming annual leave year will run from 1 October 2017 until 31 July 2018 and you will receive a pro-rata leave entitlement based on the 10 month leave period. For example, a full time colleague with a 27 day annual leave entitlement would receive 10/12th of this, which equals 22.5 days. Going forward the annual leave year will run from 1 August to 31 July.
