As part of the University of Salford’s commitment to reduce scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 81% by 2030/31 (from 2005/05 levels), the Estates and Facilities department will be instigating the annual boiler switch off from week commencing 20 May 2019. This will only affect the space heating systems and all hot water will still be available as usual. With the weather forecasts showing warm weather predicted for the coming weeks, it has been calculated that this will be the ideal time to switch off the heating systems as they will not be required to maintain comfort settings within the campus buildings.
