Our degree apprenticeship offering has made some great headway over the past couple of years. In 2016,16 BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying apprentices joined us, with a further 50 signing up for September 2017 entry across our portfolio of apprenticeship programmes. In January 2018, we are further expanding our portfolio to include additional apprenticeship programmes and starts in the areas of health and digital / ICT.

Last week, as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science, three Salford academics hosted a debate to discuss how we can respond to violence as a society. Jon Shute, an expert in mass violence and the links between psychology and violent behaviour, from the University of Manchester opened the proceedings and invited Salford’s Dr Muzammil Quraishi, Dr Clare Allely and Dr Anthony Ellis to take to the floor and talk about their research.

Colleagues and students are welcome at a free event led by two esteemed Irish poets to be held in Peel 116 from 12 noon till 1pm on Wednesday 15 November. No booking is needed and you can just turn up. Aosdana members, poets Mary O’Malley and Thomas McCarthy will be reading and discussing the influence of the Irish Literary Revival on their work. The special event has been organised by Dr Scott Thurston, Frances Piper and Dr Caroline Magennis from the School of Arts and Media.
